Allosaurus is a theropod of the late Jurassic period.

Allosaurus was a predatory therepod dinosaur, of the Carnosauria family. Allosaurus had a very basic carnivore design: it was bipedal, but not fully erect, with a thick, powerful tail, and large head. Size estimates are rough at best, with most experts placing the Allosaurus at about 28 to 40 feet long, 7 to 13 feet tall, and weighing in between 1.5 to 5 tonnes.

Allosaurus lived in the western United States, around 155-140 million years ago. This indicates a mixed, forest and plains habitat, likely very humid and wet, but also very hot. Allosaurus was a large carnivore in a world of large animals, mainly his prey. Certain research shows that Allosaurus was a pack hunter, preying on large, tough animals such as Apatosaurus and Stegosaurus.

Prey of the Allosaurus would include creatures like Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus, Camarasaurus, Stegosaurus, Camptosaurus, and even other carnivores like Ceratosaurus and Ornitholestes.

Allosaurus may have also lived in the more tropical Africa, where it hunted Barosaurus and Dryosaurus, and competed with other predators like torvosaurus, edmarka and saurophaganax..
